Entertaining options under $30 for the Under 30 crowd

As a New Orleanian, I’m quite familiar with Bruno’s Tavern, a staple of the Tulane bar scene, located near campus on Maple Street. Featuring a shuffleboard, pool table, darts area, 10 high-def TVs, a variety of beers on tap and free popcorn (a major plus), this bar is a great place to meet up with a group of friends or watch the game.
Despite my frequent encounters with Bruno’s, however, it wasn’t until this past year, as a new Tulane grad student, that I discovered $2 Tuesdays at this popular hangout. Fortuitously, after a Tuesday-night class last semester, a few of my classmates and I ventured to this nearby location and were pleasantly surprised by the rock-bottom prices.
And it’s not just well drinks. I ordered a Maker’s Mark and water for only $2 (seriously!). Featuring $2 “wells, calls, wine, most shots, Crown Royal, domestic beers, Amber, Purple Haze, and Jockamo IPA” all night long, as well as half-price appetizers from midnight to 2 a.m., Bruno’s is a great option for anyone looking to grab a drink (or several) on a Tuesday night.
