Anders Osborne releases May 1 album, plays four shows at Jazz Fest

Anders Osborne's new album Black Eye Galaxy (Alligator Records) set for 5/1 releaseon

Swedish expatriate and favorite son of New Orleans Anders Osborne will release Black Eye Galaxy May 1 via Alligator Records.

This record follows the critically acclaimed American Patchwork, an album bringing Osborne as a solo act to a considerably broader national audience. Recorded at Dockside Studio in Maurice, La., the album sees Osborne take on production duties along with engineer Warren Riker (The Fugees, Lauryn Hill and Santana) and Stanton Moore of Galactic. According to the release, the album title is a metaphor for Osborne’s often-troubled life as a traveler, a musician, an immigrant, a recovering addict, and as a husband and father.

On January 29 at the House of Blues, New Orleans got a solid preview of Osborne’s new material when the guitarist played an acoustic version of four of the new tracks and bared his soul on a well-lit stage before an attentive crowd (see below).

Also, Osborne has a scheduled performance with Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars at Hogs for the Cause on March 24, as well as four shows during Jazz Fest (see schedule below).
