Despite the fact that I tend to be an excitably loquacious eater (much to the dismay of my poor mother, who is constantly reminding me to keep my mouth closed at the supper table, lest the entire known universe pronounce the Gold family to be populated solely by knuckle-dragging savages), every now and then I encounter a plate of food that literally renders me speechless.
This, friends, is one of those dishes: Tempura-fried Oreo cookies with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate ganache, experienced recently at Saint Lawrence, in the French Quarter. I have tried my damnedest to be eloquent about this dessert, and I have tried to be pithy and smart, but it all ends in failure. No words do it justice, so I’ll leave it at that.
This begs the question: Have you ever encountered a dish that left you at a loss for words? If so, what was it, and where?
