A long (card playing) day for a cause

cards“The Longest Day” takes on new meaning Friday at The Louisiana Bridge Association, when “Aces Against Alzheimer’s” offers an array of games for all levels to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

A special open game at 9 a.m. will offer upgraded master points; the $5 entry fee goes entirely to support, care and research for Alzheimer’s.

An intoduction to duplicate bridge, geared toward party bridge players, starts at 9:30 a.m., at which newcomers can learn some of the basic rules and etiquette of duplicate bridge, play a few rounds of an informal duplicate game, and support a good cause all at the same time. The class will be taught by Louis Saik and Tippi Ellis.

Finally, at noon, open games begin again, with upgraded master points and the $7 fee going to Alzheimer’s.

All events will be held at the center at 2709 Edenborn Ave., Metairie. For more information, visit la-bridge.com or call (504) 889-0869.
