Meet: Snooty Cooter. Last Saturday Black Pearl sports bar Cooter Brown’s (509 S Carrolton) opened a more sophisticated cousin-bar of the original Cooter’s. The primary focus of aptly named Snooty Cooter, located at the back of Cooter Brown’s, is craft beer — 20 rotating American drafts including selections from California brewery Green Flash, Mississippi brewery Yalobusha and Louisiana brewery Gnarly Barely. In addition to the brews on tap, Snooty Cooter will offer tasting flights and a variety of bottled imports and domestic crafts, two dozen of which are not available at Cooter Brown’s.

Snooty Cooter’s is open 5 PM to closing Monday through Friday and noon to closing Saturday and Sunday.

Eat: Ice Cream 504. The first day of fall is on the horizon, but as any good New Orleanian knows, summer in the Big Easy rolls through Halloween.

In the meantime, you can keep yourself cool and well-fed with new ice cream shop Ice Cream 504 (2511 Jena Street). All in-house frozen treats contain no preservatives or fillers no wheat and come in intriguing flavors such as coconut, peach almond, blueberry basil, mango and vanilla toffee. Open noon to 8:30 PM.

Drink: Fest Cola. Locally based soda pop producer, Fest Cola, offers a small line of New Orleans-inspired sodas — Flambeaux, Lulu, Bamboula and Papa Joe — all of which are naturally flavored and sweetened with Louisiana cane sugar. In addition to nominally channelling a New Orleans spirit, the soda’s flavor profiles are founded upon iconic New Orleans ingredients — the Flambeaux, a satsuma and mint soda; the Bamboula, an almond cola; the Papa Joe, a pecan root beer; the Lulu a Bourbon (flavored) cream soda.

The sodas are available at Rouses, as well as a few restaurants and smaller grocers. For a full list of where to buy Fest Cola, click here.

Wear: Repurposed jewelry from Jess Leigh. Never again will you have to walk into a room and find yourself standing amongst a small army of identically accessorized individuals.

Local jewelry designer Jess Leigh creates one-of-a-kind necklaces, rings, bracelets and headbands using repurposed vintage and antique gems, beads and pendants. Her repurposed pieces err towards a bohemian aesthetic, aimed at evoking “a strong connection to nature.” Most items priced under $100.

Jess Leigh also offers new pieces, most of which are simple and classic in design. Jewelry available online and at Frenchmen Art Market.

Fete: At Vegan Drinks NOLA’s quarterly pop-up. You know how the joke goes: Thirty vegans walk in to a bar…

After a brief hiatus, Vegan Drinks New Orleans — a quarterly social meet up where vegans, vegetarians and curious omnivores can mingle while enjoying a selection of vegan bites and cocktails — will be popping up at Marigny bar Lost Love Lounge (2529 Dauphine) from 6-9 PM on Saturday, September 20. The veg-friendly event will also feature a book drive, whereby anyone who donates three or more books will receive a complimentary cocktail or dessert. The event is free and open to the public. Future pop-up dates are currently TBD.
