New Jersey indie rockers Real Estate brought their laid back sounds to One Eyed Jack’s Monday night for their first ever show in New Orleans. Bassist Alex Bleeker was clearly thrilled to be playing one of his favorite cities and toasted the crowd multiple times throughout the set. The band appropriately kicked things off with the song “How Might I Live,” proudly singing the lines “Down in my home, Louisiana / down in my home where I stay.” For the next hour and a half, the band washed away the crowd’s Monday blues with their tightly melodic songs that struck the perfect balance between surf pop and swirling psychedelia. Hopefully the band will add a stop in New Orleans to their future tours after the warm welcome they received this time around.
