The BUKU Project returns to Mardi Gras World March 13-14 with another exceptional lineup, packed with some of the best names in EDM, hip hop and electronic rock. The festival, now in its fourth year, has managed to stand out within the crowded, large-scale festival market due to its unique location, top-tier talent and a funky visual aesthetics that feel in line with New Orleans’ culture.
This year’s headliners include dubstep king Bassnectar, gangsta rapper A$AP Rocky and electro-rockers Passion Pit. There’s an especially hefty offering of DJs this year, including Flosstradamus, RL Grime,and G-Eazy. Hip hop fans can look forward to seeing Run The Jewels perform tracks from their critically acclaimed 2014 album and see if Lil Boosie’s reincarnation as Boosie Badazz comes with some talent to back up his notoriously extensive criminal record. Those who prefer more traditional instruments can catch New York legends TV on the Radio and tripped-out rockers Portugal. The Man. There’s also a solid selection of home-grown talent on the bill including Sweet Crude, Big Freedia and Pell.
Tickets start at $179.50 for 2 day passes and go up to $599.50 for “Too BUKU VIP” passes that gets you on the exclusive S.S. BUKU boat as well as other perks like butler service anywhere on the festival grounds. Tickets are also available for the BUKU late shows, including a DJ set by Flosstradamus at Republic and a marathon show by electronic jam band STS9 at The Joy Theatre.
