UNO documentary: Hollygrove Market

What: Gert Town vegetative hub Hollygrove Market works to connect New Orleanians with local farmers and their products. The uniquely modeled market establishes the connection between local consumer and producer in such a way that allows shoppers to put fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies on the table at a moderate price point and farmers to sell their crops for fare wages outside of a traditional farmers market. But Hollygrove is about more than just the produce.

Film by: UNO student and filmmaker Cassady Brown

Editor’s Note: NolaVie partners with students of UNO professor László Zsolt Fülöp, pairing them with artists, non-profits, environmental groups, and cultural entities to facilitate a live curriculum that results in a short documentary. Cassady Brown, a student in the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans, speaks with Ma about Hollygrove, its products and its extent of community involvement.
