If you were in town last November and viewed the inaugural presentation of LUNA Fete, the outdoor light installation on the façade of Gallier Hall, I am sure you haven’t forgotten how amazing it was. For those who didn’t get around to seeing it, no worries, the Arts Council of New Orleans is bringing a completely new version of this “festival of lights” back again this month.
LUNA (Light Up NOLA Arts) Fête is a visionary initiative created by the Arts Council New Orleans in 2014 to utilize the city’s iconic architecture as the canvas for contemporary light installation, motion graphics, and video-mapping practices, to create a series of artistic large-scale outdoor architectural projection mapping installations across the city leading up to New Orleans’ 2018 Tri-Centennial.
LUNA Fête 2015 will begin on November 29, 2015. This year, Ashe’s Power House Theater will be activated by Portugal-based OCUBO along with light installations across the CBD and the OC Haley Corridor during the week-long exhibition. Each year the Arts Council will grow the scope of international partnerships and expand the number of installations leading up to the Tri-Centennial celebration.
Tune in to NolaVie next week to hear us interview Arts Council CEO Kim Cook about this year’s event. Meanwhile, for more information, check the Arts Council site here.
