Editor’s Note: For the past two years, NOVAC and the Jazz and Heritage Foundation have collaborated together in order to get local music and musicians into the video world. NOVAC hosts a Music Video Production Boot Camp each year, which provides a class, a production team with a filmmaker-leader, and then NOVAC sends out a call for bands. The bands are assigned a team, and together they brainstorm, create, and film the final music video. In other words, the students learn, the filmmakers earn, and the bands get a free music video.
In 2015 NOVAC focused specifically on New Orleans bands, and in 2016, they partnered with the
Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and the
Baton Rouge Blues Foundation to film two BR based bands as well. What that means is all kinds of music videos coming your way. NOVAC will be launching the 2017 program in January, so if you’re a student, musician, or filmmaker, be on the lookout to sign-up, and check out NOVAC’s
website for more details.
