Wednesday, December 13-December 23/Marquette Theater (6363 St. Charles Ave): If you have not had your Christmas fill yet, then make your way over to Southern Rep’s performance of “Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley.” You can revisit your favorite Jane Austen characters from Pride and Prejudice as the family gathers at Pemberley for the holidays. Bookish Mary Bennet, the oft-forgotten middle child, may have finally met her intellectual match in Elizabeth and Darcy’s unexpected guest, Arthur de Bourgh. Will Lydia steal the spotlight once again, or can Mary step out of her sisters’ shadows as the heroine of her own story? Let he drama unfold! Thursday, December 14-December 17/Art Klub (1941 Arts Street): Do you ever question the American Dream and have a desire to dance? Those two presumably disconnected desires will join forces in the production of Journey of Dreamers. This is an original contemporary dance production that explores the American Dream, drawing connections between our past and present while confronting current events in order to shape our future. The dancers bring to life the stories of the 12 million immigrants who journeyed through the golden doors of Ellis Island, from leaving it all behind, to their courageous venture at sea, to being held waiting with an uncertain future. Meet the escapists, the unescorted, the reunited, the budding stars, and the dreamers whose united mission reminds us all of the origins of the American Dream. Thursday, December 14/Glitter Box (1109 Royal Street): It’s time to get kicking! The second Girl Code event cohosted with Girl Gang Nola is taking place on Thursday, and it is all about self-defense. The night will kick off (get that pun) with a self-defense class led by Deanie Morgan followed by a screening of femmpowering classic, Mulan! Popcorn and libations are provided. The class begins at 6:00 PM, and you can find out full details here. 

Saturday, December 16/A particular block: After a successful first year, Big Freedia is back with her annual Holiday Bounce Around the Block Party. This is a party that takes over a block, and it’s all happening in the St Claude Arts District this year. Bounce from The Art Garage, Hi Ho Lounge, Siberia, and The Allways Lounge to hear and move to bounce, rap, punk rock, burlesque and a whole lot more. The party begins at 8:00 PM, tickets are $30-$35, and you can buy your tickets here. 

Sunday, December 17/Spillway Bike Trail (Norco, LA): In case you are feeling adventures on Sunday and not planning on watching the Saints, you can head out to the Spillway Bike Trail for a nice, long ride. You will want to meet at the MTB trailhead at 8:00 AM since the bikes roll out at 8:15 AM. They ride the gravel levee to the lake and back before hitting the ATV trails and then finish up on the MTB trail. Cross bikes, MTB, gravel bikes are all acceptable.
