Dancing with Miss Helen: Another Last Dance 9/20/12

If it was our last chance to dance

it was the best chance to dance, yet again.

I didn’t have to try; I didn’t have to think;

I didn’t have to do a thing …

Except pay attention, follow your lead, and be astonished.

With each part of your body

embodying a different aspect of the rhythm

you exposed the very heart of jazz.

And once again,

I got it,

you knew it …

and you smiled.
