We’ve got your weekend: Music, perfume, food, and some risky behavior (of course)!

Wednesday, May 15/Lafayette Square: Don’t let the memory of that rain and those flash floods get you down. The sun is out again, which means the grass is drying, and it’s time to head back out into the great outdoors for some song and dance. The YLC Wednesdays at the Square is starting to finish up, and this Wednesday they have Kristin Diable & The City with The Quickening on the stage and ready for your dancing feet. This will be the penultimate show for Wednesdays at the Square, and remember that the headliner performs from 6:30 – 8 PM with the opening act from 5 – 6:00 PM. As always, this event is free and open to the public with proceeds from food and drink sales benefit YLC’s community service projects, which are designed to improve the quality of life in New Orleans and to foster leadership skills in young professionals.

Wednesday, May 15/Glitter Box N.O. (1109 Royal Street): If you’re like most New Orleanians, you are moving through the streets with your nose in the air to smell the jasmine. Well, now you can smell just as sweet because Glitter Box is hosting a “Make your own Perfume” night on Wednesday. You’ll join Lisa Lynn to create your own perfume using the old school ways of aromatherapy. Over 75 different oils will be available to create your masterpiece (don’t worry…they’ll give you the fundamentals). The class is $75, it starts at 6:00 PM and goes until 8:00 PM, and you can find out full details here

Thursday, May 16/CopperVine Wine Pub (1001 Poydras Street): The courses are coming! No, we are not talking about school — schools out, don’t you know! As always, we are talking about food. CopperVine Wine Pub is launching their first 5- course dinner for their dinner series that pairs regional cuisine and top-tier vintners. Kicking off the series on Thursday will be a 5-course pairing dinner with David Arthur Vineyards and Reynolds Family Winery. Everything from Cold smoked scallop carpaccio with toasted pistachio to rabbit galantine with crispy chicken skin will be served. And, of course, there will be wine. Dinner is $150/person, and you can find out the full menu and details here

Friday, May 17/House of Blues (225 Decatur Street): Every once in a while we like to send you out into the city on faith. As in, we’re not sure what the event is, there aren’t any details on the event in the public sphere, but the pictures just look so cool we have to recommend it. This time, we are taking that leap of faith with “Bustout Burlesque.” As we said, there aren’t details (except that you must be 18 or older, have an ID, and tickets start around $22 — purchase here), but we sure do like their pun in the title! The event starts at 7:30, and if you want to investigate more, here is their event page

Friday, May 17-Sunday, May 19/Bayou St. John: I know we told you to forget about the rain and floods earlier in this piece, but remember last year when Bayou Boogaloo literally blew you away? Well, they’re back (and hopefully the winds won’t be). This is three days of food, music, art, and hanging on the bayou (get ready for the flotation devices)! The line-up can be found here, and there’s not mention of a cost for entrance (although previously they did a $5 cover based on time you entered. Go get your booogaloo on!

Saturday, May 18/Vintage Rock Club (1007 Poydras Street, New Orleans): You ready to rock? Good! Because Vintage Rock Club, New Orleans’ first throwback bar and video music experience venue, is hosting quarterly special event series — featuring four evenings of drinks and dancing with popular themes from the times of Rock n Roll. The first event kicks off Saturday, (10 pm – 2 am), with the theme “School’s Out for Summer,” paying homage to the mid-seventies fan-favorite movie, Dazed and Confused. All proceeds from the event’s ticket sales will benefit local non-profit Team Gleason; upcoming events (which will be announced at a later date) will support additional charitable organizations in New Orleans. Tickets are $15 (advance) and $20 (at the door).
