Reckoning  

 
I have been spared horror… 
but not the experience 
of being horrified.
 
My mistakes weren’t tragic… 
as far as I know.
 
My good luck has been unearned. 
 
No matter how much 
I’ve accomplished 
it could have been more… 
much more. 
 
So with things looking bad  
and getting worse all the time…
maybe I shouldn’t feel
as good as I do.
