Everyday Wonder: Lessons learned in an era of virtual education

Everyday Wonder, a New Orleans-based podcast hosted by mismatched but fast friends Brett Will Taylor and Renee Peck, continues its second season with a focus on life with COVID-19.

A podcast about wonder in the midst of a pandemic? Yes. Because we think, when you look beyond the heartache, the fear, and the sorrow, you can still find hope. You can still tell stories of compassion and resilience. You can still have conversations about coping and human connection. And you can still think about where we go from here.

“We’re focused on COVID-19 this season because what else is there?” Taylor said. “But we want to leave our listeners feeling good, even if it’s just via a five-second laugh, because we all have plenty of opportunities to feel bad these days.”

Everyday Wonder follows conversational threads wherever they might lead. And sometimes they end up in unexpected territory.  That’s what happens on this episode as our guest, educator, author and NolaVie editor Kelley Crawford steers us away from talking about the pitfalls of virtual learning in these COVID-19 times to the resilience of our youth and the creativity of our teachers.

It’s a conversation of promise and hope. Not a bad way to spend 30 minutes!

Given the times, this episode was recorded remotely using Zoom. The quality may not be great, but we hope the conversation is!
