The Vie Side: Bunny Hops, Cinderella Performance

FRIDAY / Here comes Peter Cottontail: Nola Bunarchy is putting the “hop” in “bar hop” this Friday. This French Quarter and Marigny bar crawl benefits the LA-SPCA. The $10 pass gets you free cover and drink specials at all locations. Your childhood Easter outfits have nothing on the costumes at the bar crawl. With awards for Scariest Bunny, Sexiest Bunny, Most Original Costume, Best Dressed, and Least Dressed (they’re really not cutting any corners with that one), is your rabbit alter-ego more Playboy or Donnie Darko?

SATURDAY / Cinderelly, Cinderelly: This Saturday is the opening performance of The Russian Festival for Children’s Cinderella. This dynamic performance features the Jefferson Ballet Theater. The festival is produced by Moscow Nights, a nonprofit New Orleans-based organization that promotes the appreciation of Russian culture through performances, events, and educational programs. Join Moscow Nights at the Rivertown Theater in Kenner this Saturday at 2 PM for an adaption of the beloved children’s story.

SATURDAY / Kegs and eggs: For yet another opportunity to give back to the New Orleans community drunk and in a bunny suit, NOLA Brewing and Gulf Restoration Network are partnering to put on the 5th Annual Easter Keg Hunt. The starting location is Cooter Browns, but be prepared to hop (or run or bike) all over the Riverbend area. Instead of melted chocolate and jelly beans, the payoff for the hunt is the after party location where there will be live music and free NOLA beer.

SUNDAY / Bunny hop: Where would New Orleans be without its ability to appropriate religious holidays for parade opportunities? This Sunday, the first parade to roll is the Historic French Quarter Easter Parade, characterized by stylish ladies in their Easter finery, at 9:45 AM. Then, catch the 30th Annual Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade rolling at 1 PM, following the Easter hat contest. The 14th Annual Gay Easter Parade rolls through the Quarter at 4:30 PM. Start with an early mass at St. Louis Cathedral and hit all three.
