Audio: ‘Don’t Mess with the Longshoremen’

Bring Your Own is a nomadic storytelling series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and other intimate spaces within the community. Each month, seven storytellers have 7 minutes to respond to a theme. BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on wwno.org.

This story was told at Fortier Park on October 17th, 2013 and later produced by Zach Young. The theme of the evening was “Thrown”, and James Asher takes us back to the 1980s, when legacy journalism got him into some real trouble.

BYO is having its first ever PARTY on Friday, January 17th at the Aquarium Gallery in the Bywater. This time and this time only they ask you to please ‘Don’t Bring Your Own’. For details, go to Bringyourownstories.com.
