Meet: The seersucker bucket hat. Some call it Spring and Summer; after living in New Orleans for several years, I’ve begun calling it seersucker season. Now, you can (quite literally) top off your seasonal wardrobe.

Brooks Brothers has teamed up with New York-based skate-wear line Supreme to adapt a ’90s fashion staple — the bucket hat — into a must-have Southern accessory. The hat (on sale for $14) coordinates with Brooks Brothers’ first-ever seersucker suit ($498), so if you’re a matchy-matchy kind of dude, here you go. If not — guy or gal, if you appreciate a quality navy-white textile, the hat is a perfect addition to your summer accessory arsenal.

Eat: At Indochow. The New Orleans food truck and pop-up scene is certainly growing. However, now that Milkfish has secured a permanent home, the city’s mobile pop-up composition is nearly devoid of Asian variety. Enter: Indochow. The pop-up offers a rotating menu of Southeast Asian street food items, like tofu gio cuon (fresh spring rolls), slow roasted pork banh mi, and fried chicken wings with chili-garlic dipping sauce — all priced under $10. Indochow frequently pops-up at the Always Lounge, Pal’s Lounge, and Le Bon Temps.

Drink: Your caffeine at Deville Coffe House & Creperie. Recently opened French Quarter eatery Deville (508 Dumaine) has hopped on board the welcomed trend of craft coffee houses in NOLA. And they’ve added crepes. The French Quarter eatery and caffeine hub has set itself apart from neighboring establishments by offering a menu that does not concentrate on drunk food — we have enough burger and pizza joints in the Quarter, thank you.

The food menu is comprised of solid, unassuming sweet and savory crepes: powdered sugar, Maple syrup, butter; ham, brie, apple, spring greens, for instance. Lagniappe: If you dine in: you will receive your crepe in a via “crepe elevator” — a quaint box-and-rope pulley system — while leisurely hanging in their upstairs loft-space. Everything on the menu is $10 and under.

Wear: Vans‘ limited-run Star Wars collection. If you’re a Star Wars geek, you may want to sit down for this one. Skate-wear (board, not ice, in case you lived under a rock during the late 90’s and early 2000’s) company Vans is flexing its creative muscles by introducing a new line of Star Wars-themed shoes and accessories (hats, socks, bandanas — apparently, people still wear bandanas…). Pieces from the collection will be produced from textiles that fuse iconic Star Wars images with Cali-surf oriented patterns that have aesthetically defined Vans products for the last two decades — the result that feature: hibiscuses and Yoda; patchwork compilations of Star Wars text and characters; skulls and bones superimposed on Darth Vader’s face; palm trees, colorful zig-zags, and Storm Troopers.

No word yet on pricing and in-store availability, but the line is set to launch in sometime June.
