UNO documentary: Emma Pegues and RHINO (Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans)

What: In 2005, following the destruction Hurricane Katrina caused in the greater New Orleans area, Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans (RHINO) — a volunteer-based ministry organization — emerged from St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church as a means of rebuilding the communities most severely devastated from the storm.

Film by: UNO student and filmmaker Rebecca Pritchett

Editor’s Note: NolaVie partners with students of UNO professor László Zsolt Fülöp, pairing them with artists, non-profits, environmental groups, and cultural entities to facilitate a live curriculum that results in a short documentary. UNO film student Rebecca Pritchett talks to RHINO program director Emma Pegues in a short documentary about the evolution of RHINO since Katrina and about how the organization aims to enrich its volunteers as much as those helped by the voluntourism.
