WHY: Perhaps the finest slice of Americana offered in the Big Easy all year
The stars have aligned, the music gods smile upon us and a wealth of great Americana, folk, and classic-inspired groove rock is headed our way Thursday, Nov. 10, when one of the greatest bands on Earth (Dr. Dog) and a fiery band of folksters (Felice Brothers) team up for a twin killing at Tipitina’s alongside Quiet Life.
As has been the case with so many great indie-leaning shows this fall, Tulane’s WTUL station is behind the curtain on this one; the radio station is teaming up with the venue to co-promote this monster show that so many have been looking forward to all fall.
Dr. Dog teamed up with Rebirth Brass Band in 2009 for a special mid-week show at The Howlin’ Wolf and were invited to play Tulane’s Homecoming concert on the LBC Quad last October. This year, the veteran Philadelphia rockers step up to the hallowed hall for what should be one of the marquee concerts of the season. Also, be sure to check out Quiet Life; the video at the bottom of the page is a great sign of what they are all about. Continue on for videos from each band.
